If you’re planning a roof replacement and have solar panels installed, Allegiant Roofing makes the process easier with professional solar removal and reinstallation (Solar R&R). We partner with Ohm Solar Solutions to safely remove your solar panels before your reroof and reinstall them once the new roofing system is complete. This service is available for homeowners who move forward with a new roof through Allegiant Roofing and need a trusted, coordinated solution to protect their solar investment and keep the project on schedule.
What Is Solar Removal & Reinstallation?
Solar removal and reinstallation (also known as Solar R&R) is the process of:
- Carefully removing solar panels and mounting hardware
- Protecting and securing system components during reroofing
- Reinstalling panels after the new roof is finished
- Ensuring penetrations and attachments are properly sealed
Solar R&R is a critical step for many reroof projects because solar panels must be taken off to complete a full roof replacement safely and correctly.
Solar R&R Available for Allegiant Roofing Customers
We offer solar removal and reinstallations for homeowners who decide to get a new roof through Allegiant Roofing.

To help ensure a smooth experience, our team coordinates scheduling between your roofing timeline and the solar removal/reinstall process.
Solar Panel Storage Requirements
After solar panels are removed, panels must be stored onsite at the reroof location. If the customer is unable to store the panels onsite, we may offer warehouse storage for an additional fee:
- Optional Warehouse Storage (If Space Is Available)
- $60 per panel
Storage is only available if there is space in our warehouse
Solar Removal & Reinstallation Pricing
Pricing is based on the size of your system and travel distance.
System Sizes: 10 Panels or Less
- $200 per panel
- + $500 service fee
System Sizes: 11 Panels or More
- $225 per panel
- + $100 truck roll fee
Long Distance Systems (Only 11 Panels or More)
- $275 per panel
- + $200 truck roll fee
Applies for locations past Sacramento OR past Red Bluff
A Solar Verification site visit will be completed by:
Cody Yon, Ohm Solar Install Manager prior to solar removal to verify the system is in working order for all reroofs.
Solar Removal for Urgent Repairs
If solar panels must be removed for a repair, a verification visit may not be completed ahead of time due to the urgency of the repair.
Do You Own Your Solar System?
Solar removal and reinstallation depends on ownership and warranty status.
If You Own the Solar System
If you own the system outright, we can complete the removal and reinstall.
If You Do NOT Own the Solar System (Lease or PPA)
If the system is owned by a solar provider, we cannot touch the system without potentially voiding your warranty. In this case, you should contact your solar company to request an estimate for removal and reinstall. We can still help keep the project moving by coordinating with other solar providers.
If Your Solar Company Is No Longer in Business
If your original solar company is no longer operating, the warranty is typically considered void and nullified. If you still want to move forward with removal and reinstall, Allegiant Roofing and Ohm Solar Solutions can help complete the Solar R&R.
Written Consent for Warranty Protection (When Applicable)
If your current solar company allows Allegiant Roofing to remove and reinstall the system, we will need written consent from the solar company confirming the homeowner’s warranty will remain valid.

In some cases, we may also be able to work within your solar company’s requirements to approve Allegiant Roofing and Ohm Solar Solutions as certified contractors for removal and reinstall.
Important Warranty Notice
Ohm Solar Solutions does not provide customers with any form of workmanship or manufacturer warranty when removing or reinstalling a system for Allegiant Roofing. Ohm Solar provides a Roof Penetration Warranty only.
Ohm Solar Roof Penetration Warranty
This warranty covers leaks caused by roof penetrations created during the reinstallation of your PV system.
Covered Components
This warranty extends to any leaks proximately caused by roof penetrations made by Ohm Solar Solutions while reinstalling the PV system. It does not extend to leaks that would have occurred without those penetrations. For the purpose of this warranty, a roof penetration is defined as: An area within a 3-inch radius of any hardware installed by Ohm Solar Solutions that penetrates the waterproof membrane of the roof.
