FAQ

  • What is solar removal and reinstallation (Solar R&R)?

Solar removal and reinstallation (Solar R&R) is the process of safely removing solar panels and mounting hardware before a roof replacement, then reinstalling the system after the new roof is complete.

  • Do I need to own my solar system for Allegiant Roofing to remove and reinstall it?

    Yes, ownership matters.

If you own your system, we can complete the removal and reinstall.

If you do not own your system (Lease, PPA, Loan, or other Financier ), we typically cannot touch the system without risking voiding your warranty.

  • What if I don’t own my solar system?

If you don’t own your solar system, you should contact your solar provider for an estimate to remove and reinstall the system.

That said, Allegiant Roofing can still coordinate your reroof schedule with your solar provider to keep the project moving.

  • Can Allegiant Roofing remove and reinstall solar panels if my solar company approves it?

Yes. If your solar company allows it, we’ll need written consent from the solar company confirming that removal and reinstallation by Allegiant Roofing will not void your warranty.

In some cases, we can also work within your solar company’s guidelines to approve Allegiant Roofing and Ohm Solar Solutions as certified contractors.

  • What happens if my solar company is no longer in business?

If the original solar company is no longer operating, the warranty is typically considered void and nullified. In that case, we can move forward with the removal and reinstall if you’d like to proceed.

  • Can I still move forward if I’m okay with voiding my solar warranty?

Yes. If you want to move forward and understand the warranty may be voided, we can complete the Solar R&R. We will include a clear void warranty statement in the contract.

  • Where are the solar panels stored after removal?

After removal, panels must be stored onsite at the reroof location.

  • What if I can’t store the panels onsite?

If you’re unable to store panels onsite, we may offer warehouse storage for an additional fee:

    • $60 per panel
    • Storage is only available if there is space in our warehouse
  • How much does solar removal and reinstallation cost?

Pricing depends on system size and location:

System Sizes: 10 Panels or Less

    • $200 per panel + $500 service fee

System Sizes: 11 Panels or More

    • $225 per panel + $100 truck roll fee

Long Distance (Only 11 Panels or More)

    • $275 per panel + $200 truck roll fee

Applies past Sacramento OR past Red Bluff

  • Do you perform a system check before removing the panels?

Yes. For all reroofs, a Solar Verification site visit will be completed by Cody Yon, Ohm Solar Install Manager, before removal to confirm the system is working properly.

This helps ensure the system is operating correctly before we touch it.

  • Is a Solar Verification visit required for emergency repairs?

Not always. If solar panels must be removed urgently for a repair, a Solar Verification site visit may not be completed beforehand due to the time-sensitive nature of the situation.

  • What warranties are included with solar removal and reinstallation?

Ohm Solar Solutions does not provide workmanship or manufacturer warranties when removing or reinstalling a system for Allegiant Roofing.

Ohm Solar provides a Roof Penetration Warranty only.

  • What does the Roof Penetration Warranty cover?

The Roof Penetration Warranty covers leaks directly caused by roof penetrations made during the reinstallation of the PV system.

A “roof penetration” is defined as an area within a 3-inch radius of hardware installed by Ohm Solar Solutions that penetrates the waterproof membrane of the roof.

  • How do I schedule solar removal and reinstallation with Allegiant Roofing?

To schedule Solar R&R, contact Allegiant Roofing to confirm:

    • Your system size (panel count)
    • Your solar ownership status
    • Storage availability onsite
    • Your reroof timeline and verification visit scheduling
